Professor, father, husband, and lover of life. In this blog, I share my thoughts on my central purpose in life: to teach others how to make better decisions, specifically in designing, building, maintaining, and using information systems. I review books, explain scientific research, discuss philosophy, talk about education, and share my own experiences on how to make the best decisions for living a happy successful life.

The Arbitrary
My brother, unfortunately, is experiencing just how arbitrary government policies can be. After taking the time to follow zoning procedures in erecting a sign in front of his club, some busy-bodies are complaining and forcing a review of the zoning decision. What is the point of having a hearing for the new sign if the decision isn't binding? This is absolutely ridiculous, but common practice in todays world. Very sad.
