Look around you. Identify the most successful people you know. Now, ask them if they have a long-term plan or goal for themselves, for their career, or for their business. I have been struggling lately to figure out where to take my career next and I think part of the problem is that I need to give some renewed and thought toward a more fully defined central productive purpose and consequently a long range goal.
